Anyone who wishes to welcome those who have been through cancer into their salon. Anyone who wants to reduce any risk factors of carrying out their services on cancer survivors. Requirements Students need to be qualified in beauty therapy/massage/holistic therapy/nail tech/tattoo artist/makeup artist Course Overview To teach beauty professionals how to administer their services safely on clients affected by cancer. Either during treatment or in remission. How to deal with cancer on an emotional level within the salon environment. Course Content Introduction to Oncology The Cancer Crises Cancer therapies & Side Effects Salon Setting Psychosocial Ingredients Skin Cancer Consultation – Meet the Survivors – Practical treatment Learning Outcomes On completion the learner will be able to amend their services to suit the individual client. Whether they are going through cancer treatment, a survivor or in remission. They will know how to communicate with medical teams should the need arise. Provide a safe space within the salon/spa. Understand on an emotional level, how to treat those, both patients and their families with empathy and understanding. Know how to recognise the warning signs of skin cancer and how and when to refer to a doctor. (Note: we NEVER diagnose only refer.)
